Through-Beam Protection Versus a Reflector-Based System
With LMTBUL, the emitter sends light across the opening to a separate receiver. Both locations and their wiring must be planned. A retro-reflective product such as LMRRUL uses a different optical arrangement, so changing between the two is a system-selection decision rather than replacing one sensor with a similar-looking housing. Check the actual components already installed.
A long advertised range does not remove the need for alignment and a suitable mounting location. Movement of posts, obstructions and the site layout can affect the beam path. Use the manufacturer’s alignment indicators and installation instructions, and have the technician identify every entrapment zone; a single beam cannot be assumed to protect the entire gate installation.
