The Guardian 928V is a residential wall-mount jackshaft garage door opener designed for sectional garage doors with torsion spring systems. Instead of using a traditional ceiling-mounted trolley and rail, the 928V mounts beside the torsion shaft, freeing overhead ceiling space and making it especially useful for high ceilings, storage areas and compatible high-lift garage door installations.
Powered by a smooth and quiet 12V DC motor, the 928V is designed for residential sectional doors weighing up to 850 lb and up to 14 ft high. It also supports compatible sectional doors up to 18 ft wide and high-lift configurations with up to 54 inches of high lift.
The operator includes an automatic deadbolt-style door lock, cable tension monitor, photo-eye safety system, motion-activated 1500-lumen LED lighting and Guardian’s built-in BEAM Smart Port.

BEAM V3 SMART CONTROL
The 928V has a factory-installed Guardian BEAM Smart Port.
Smartphone functionality requires the optional Guardian BEAM V3 Smart Controller, sold separately.
With the compatible BEAM V3 installed, the opener can provide supported BEAM Home smart-garage functions including remote door control, door-status monitoring and notifications.
The BEAM V3 plugs directly into the operator’s Smart Port and does not require a separate wireless door-position sensor.

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK
The Guardian 928V includes an automatic door lock that helps physically secure the garage door when it reaches the closed position.
When the opener receives an OPEN command, the lock retracts before the operator begins lifting the door.
This provides an additional physical security layer beyond simply holding the door closed through the opener.
CABLE TENSION MONITOR
The included cable tension monitor helps detect loss of tension in the garage door lift cable.
Cable slack can indicate conditions such as:
• Cable movement on the drum
• Improper cable tension
• Door imbalance
• Spring-related problems
• Other mechanical issues with the garage door
The cable tension monitor is an important part of the 928V safety system and must be installed and configured correctly.
Certain qualifying high-lift applications may allow operation without the cable tension monitor when configured according to Guardian’s instructions.
1500-LUMEN MOTION-ACTIVATED LIGHTING
The 928V includes a built-in 1500-lumen LED lighting system.
An integrated motion sensor can automatically activate the garage lighting when movement is detected, eliminating the need for separate opener light bulbs.
HIGH-LIFT GARAGE DOOR COMPATIBILITY
One of the advantages of a wall-mount jackshaft opener is that it does not require an overhead trolley rail running through the center of the garage.
Guardian specifies the 928V for compatible sectional high-lift garage doors with up to 54 inches of high lift.
High-lift compatibility still depends on the complete door configuration, including:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CALIFORNIA CUSTOMERS
California law requires qualifying newly installed residential garage door openers to include battery backup.
Guardian specifies that the 928V must be installed with the B5A928 battery backup system for California SB 969 compliance.
For this reason, this standard non-battery configuration is not available for sale or shipment to California.
California customers should order the battery-backup version:
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
The 928V should be installed only on a properly balanced sectional garage door with the correct torsion-spring and track configuration.
Before installation:
• Raise and lower the garage door manually and check for sticking or binding
• Inspect the hinges and rollers
• Inspect the lift cables for fraying or damage
• Check the torsion springs for damage
• Verify that the door remains reasonably balanced when raised approximately halfway
• Confirm the torsion shaft and drum configuration
• Confirm required mounting clearance
• Confirm an electrical outlet is available within approximately 6 ft of the opener
A garage door opener should never be used to compensate for a broken spring, damaged cable, binding track or badly unbalanced door.
Professional installation is recommended.
