The Guardian BEAM Smart Controller V3 adds Wi-Fi smartphone control to compatible Guardian garage door openers equipped with a built-in BEAM Smart Port. It plugs directly into the opener and communicates with the opener’s logic board, allowing the BEAM Home app to monitor and control the garage door without requiring a separate door-position sensor.

If you have a Guardian 928V, 7280V, 7160V, 4280V, 4250V, or 4150V and want to control and monitor your garage door from your phone, the V3 is the plug-in smart controller designed for these BEAM-ready Guardian openers.

Guardian Opener Compatibility

The Guardian BEAM Smart Controller V3 is designed for Guardian garage door openers with a factory-installed BEAM Smart Port.

Compatible Guardian models include:

• 4150V

• 4250V

• 4280V

• 7160V

• 7280V

• 928V

The V3 is designed for Guardian models ending in “V” that include the BEAM Smart Port.

Important Compatibility Note

The V3 is not a universal garage door smart controller.

Before ordering, verify that your garage door opener has the built-in BEAM Smart Port. If your opener does not have this port, the V3 should not be ordered based only on the Guardian brand name or the appearance of the opener.

Simple Plug-In Installation

Installation requires no special tools.

1. Verify that the garage door opener has the BEAM Smart Port.

2. Plug the V3 Smart Controller directly into the BEAM Smart Port on the opener.

3. Download the BEAM Home app for your smartphone.

4. Create or sign into your BEAM account.

5. Select the V3 controller and follow the in-app setup instructions.

6. Connect the controller to your home Wi-Fi network.

Because the V3 receives door-status information directly from the garage door opener, there is no separate wireless door sensor to install or align.

Wi-Fi Requirements

The BEAM V3 requires:

• 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

• 802.11 B/G/N compatible network

• Suitable Wi-Fi signal at the garage door opener

The controller does not connect directly to a 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi network.

One Controller Per Garage Door Opener

One V3 Smart Controller controls one compatible garage door opener.

For two separate garage door openers, two V3 controllers are required.

Existing Remotes Still Work

Installing the BEAM Smart Controller does not replace your existing garage door controls. Compatible handheld remotes and wall controls can continue to operate the opener normally after the V3 is installed.
