Miller Edge RBand Guide: Wireless Gate Kits, Transmitters, and Door Edge Systems

Miller Edge RBand systems provide a monitored wireless connection between a compatible sensing edge and a motorized door or gate operator. They help eliminate the moving cable connection that would otherwise carry the edge signal back to the operator.

Choosing the correct system requires matching both the sensing edge and the operator’s safety input. The gate kit, door kit, and separate transmitter serve different purchasing needs.

Which RBand Product Do You Need?

Product When to choose it Main distinction
RBand Monitored Wireless Gate Link Kit Establishing a wireless edge connection on a compatible gate operator Gate receiver and transmitter system
RBand Monitored Gate Link Transmitter Adding or replacing a transmitter in a compatible existing system Transmitter only; requires a compatible receiver
Miller Edge RB-P-K10 Wireless Door Edge System Establishing a wireless edge connection on a compatible motorized door or grille Door receiver system with a pulsed monitoring interface

Miller Edge identifies the RB-G-K10 family with 10K and normally closed receiver outputs, while the RB-P-K10 family offers pulsed and normally open outputs. Both use compatible 10K/T2 sensing edges at the transmitter. The receiver output must match the operator—not simply the type of opening.

How the Wireless Connection Works

The sensing edge connects by a short wire to a transmitter mounted near it. The transmitter communicates wirelessly with a receiver, which connects to the operator controls.

“Wireless” therefore describes the link between transmitter and receiver. The sensing edge still needs its transmitter connection, and the receiver still needs power and operator wiring.

The edge itself is a separate sensing component. Miller Edge’s installation instructions list a compatible 10K, T2/blue-band sensing edge as required equipment rather than part of the standard wireless kit.

RBand Monitored Wireless Gate Link Kit

The RBand Gate Link Kit is the starting point when a compatible gate installation needs both sides of the wireless connection.

Miller Edge identifies the RB-G-K10 system as an RB-G-RX10 receiver paired with an RB-TX10 transmitter. Its documented capacity is up to six transmitters across two channels, with three transmitters per channel.

That capacity can support multiple edge locations, but channel assignments must follow the operator’s requirements. Several transmitters sharing one channel do not become independently identified operator inputs.

The gate system also provides onboard diagnostics and bidirectional communication to help identify faults and maintain the wireless link.

RBand Monitored Gate Link Transmitter

Choose the RBand Gate Link Transmitter when the installation already has a compatible receiver and needs an additional or replacement transmitter.

A transmitter alone does not create a complete wireless safety-edge system. Before purchasing, identify the existing receiver, confirm the supported transmitter model, and check its remaining capacity.

Miller Edge documents the RB-TX10 for both the RB-G-K10 gate system and RB-P-K10 door system. It is not interchangeable with every Miller Edge wireless product: the RB-P-K20 system uses the different RB-TX20 transmitter for T3 diode-capacitor edges.

RB-P-K10 Monitored Wireless Door Edge System

The Miller Edge RB-P-K10 Door Edge System is intended for compatible motorized doors and grilles.

Miller Edge’s instructions identify an RB-P-RX10 receiver and RB-TX10 transmitter, with support for up to three transmitters.

The receiver provides a photo-eye-style pulsed output for compatible monitoring inputs. Its normally open connection is identified for non-monitored applications; it should not be treated as an equivalent substitute where monitored protection is required.

Check Compatibility Before Ordering

Give your installer or parts supplier these details:

  • Operator manufacturer, complete model number, and control-board version.

  • Required monitored input type.

  • Sensing-edge model and electrical termination.

  • Existing receiver and transmitter labels, if replacing equipment.

  • Number of edge locations and required channel assignments.

  • Available receiver power and mounting locations.

A matching brand name, voltage, or terminal label alone is not enough to confirm compatibility. Where labels include a revision suffix such as “C,” verify the actual supplied version and its instructions.

For normally closed gate interfaces, Miller Edge specifies an additional test connection and configuration. Connecting only a relay output does not necessarily establish the required monitoring function.

Batteries, Placement, and Maintenance

The documented RB-TX10 uses two 3.6V AA lithium batteries. Ordinary 1.5V AA batteries are not the specified replacement. Miller Edge quotes an expected battery life of approximately two years, rather than a guaranteed replacement interval.

Receiver and antenna placement must preserve communication throughout the door or gate’s travel. A successful pairing test while stationary is not enough to confirm dependable operation at every position.

Miller Edge recommends monthly checks of the door system for battery warnings, enclosure damage, mounting problems, and damaged edge connections. Test edge operation using the manufacturer’s procedure and confirm the operator responds correctly.

Installation and Safety

Miller Edge requires professional installation of the gate system. The installer must verify the wireless link, sensing-edge function, monitoring interface, and operator response before returning the equipment to service.

RBand is identified as a UL 325 Recognized Component. Installing it does not, by itself, establish that the complete door or gate installation meets every applicable requirement. Do not bypass a fault or remove other required protective devices to make the operator run.
