Miller Edge SM-101 Signature Module – T3 Diode-Capacitor Safety Edge to Monitored Pulsed Output
The Miller Edge SM-101 Signature Module connects a compatible T3 diode-capacitor sensing edge to a commercial door operator that requires a monitored pulsed safety signal. It converts the edge’s electrical output into the signal format required by the operator.
This interface is used in compatible wired safety-edge installations on commercial sectional and rolling doors. Built-in status LEDs help technicians check power, edge activation, and connection faults.
WHAT DOES “DC / T3” MEAN?
For this product, DC means diode capacitor—the sensing edge’s termination type. It does not describe the operator’s motor or simply mean that the edge uses direct-current power.
Miller Edge T3 sensing edges are identified by a red band on the outlet wire. Confirm the edge’s termination before selecting the module.

COMPATIBILITY
Designed for Miller Edge T3 diode-capacitor sensing edges used with operators approved for the SM-101’s monitored pulsed output.
Miller Edge’s application guidance identifies the T3/SM-101 combination for compatible Genie and Overhead Door commercial operators. This is not blanket compatibility with every commercial operator or residential opener from those brands.
Before ordering, verify:
• Exact operator model and control-board version
• Manufacturer-approved sensing-edge/interface combination
• T3 diode-capacitor edge termination
• Required monitored input and wiring arrangement
The operator’s current installation manual takes precedence over general brand compatibility guidance.
SM-101 VS. SM-102
• SM-101 accepts a T3 diode-capacitor sensing edge.
• SM-102 accepts a compatible 10K-ohm resistive device, including T2 sensing edges.
These modules accept different signals and are not interchangeable. Do not use the SM-101 as a universal adapter for 10K, 8.2K, pneumatic, or ordinary non-monitored safety devices.
PACKAGE CONTENTS
• One SM-101 Signature Module
• One standard 2" × 4" junction box
• Two clamp-on wire fittings
• Four wire nuts
Sensing edge, coil cord, and additional wiring are sold separately.
INSTALLATION & DIAGNOSTICS
Use suitable 18–22 AWG wiring or coil cord as specified in the installation instructions. Mount the module inside the operator or the provided junction box.
Status indicators:
• Green on: Module has power
• Red off: Connected device is not activated
• Red on: Device activated / obstruction condition
• Red blinking: Device or wiring fault requiring inspection
The module’s NEMA 4 rating does not establish a NEMA 4 rating for the supplied junction box.
SAFETY WARNINGS
Qualified personnel must install and test this interface. Disconnect all operator power, including battery backup where fitted, before servicing.
Never bypass the sensing edge, defeat monitoring, or substitute components merely to clear a fault. This module provides signal conversion; it does not make an unapproved edge/operator combination compatible.
Test edge activation and the operator’s required reversal and fault responses before returning the door to service. Keep the system out of automatic operation if any required safety test fails.
