Miller Edge 24-Foot Air-Wave Safety Edge Kit with Coil Cord

The Miller Edge Air-Wave safety edge kit uses pneumatic pressure to detect contact with an obstruction on a compatible commercial door. When the sensing hose is compressed, an air pulse activates the switch, which signals the operator to stop and/or reverse movement.

This configuration includes 24 feet of gum rubber hose and a 12-foot coil cord. The adjustable AW14 switch allows the installer to set sensitivity for the completed installation.

Match the kit to the operator’s required input, the door’s bottom-edge assembly, available mounting space, and cable routing. Compatibility cannot be established from the operator brand alone.

This kit does not directly replace a monitored resistive, optical, diode-capacitor, or pulsed safety edge.

IMPORTANT LENGTH INFORMATION

The 24-foot specification refers to the supplied hose—not door height. The included coil cord is 12 feet long; its suitability depends on mounting position and extension requirements throughout the door’s travel.

Verify whether your installation requires a separate edge profile, mounting channel, junction box, or additional wiring. Do not assume this kit includes a complete door-bottom assembly.

INSTALLATION NOTES

A qualified commercial door technician should assemble, wire, adjust, and test the system.

Keep the hose free of kinks, pinched sections, and damaged connections. Route the coil cord away from rollers and tracks, with adequate movement allowance. Protect the NEMA 1 switch enclosure from direct weather and washdown exposure.

Disconnect operator power and secure the door before servicing.

This is a contact-activated system. It does not detect an obstruction before contact and must not replace monitored protection required by the operator manufacturer.

Never bypass photoeyes or other required safety devices. Test the protected edge and verify the operator’s response before returning the door to service. Inspect the hose, fittings, switch, and cord regularly; stop automatic operation if any required safety test fails.
