The Linear MDKP is a heavy-duty exterior wireless keypad designed for compatible automatic garage door operators, commercial door operators, and gate-access systems using Linear’s 318 MHz MegaCode radio format.

Users enter a personal code from one to six digits and press the # key to transmit an activation signal to the connected MegaCode receiver. Each PIN entered into the keypad appears to the receiver as a separate MegaCode transmitter, allowing multiple authorized codes to be programmed up to the receiver’s available transmitter capacity.

How It Works

The MDKP transmits a coded 318 MHz MegaCode signal to a compatible receiver.

To operate the door or gate:

1. Enter the authorized one- to six-digit PIN.
2. Press the # key.
3. The keypad transmits the code to the receiver.
4. The receiver activates the connected door or gate operator when the code has been stored in its memory.

Each PIN appears to the receiver as an individual MegaCode transmitter. The number of keypad codes that can be used therefore depends on the maximum transmitter capacity of the connected receiver.

Nighttime Keypad Illumination

The keypad includes two yellow downlights that illuminate the keys for use at night or in dark areas.

Pressing the # key before entering the PIN activates the keypad lights. The lights remain on for approximately 30 seconds or until a code is transmitted.

Optional Lockout and Repeat Features

An internal option jumper can enable two additional functions:

• Keypad lockout: After 10 repeated activation attempts, the keypad temporarily disables itself and must remain idle for 30 seconds before accepting another code.
• Thirty-second repeat: After transmitting a valid code, the user may press the # key again within 30 seconds to send another signal without re-entering the PIN.

Linear notes that installing the option jumper reduces battery life.

Battery Life

The MDKP operates from a 9-volt lithium battery.

Programming

Programming is performed through the connected MegaCode receiver:

5. Repeat the process for additional PINs, subject to the receiver’s memory capacity.
