LiftMaster 85LM Universal Radio-Control Plug-In Transformer

The LiftMaster 85LM is a plug-in low-voltage transformer used to power compatible LiftMaster radio receivers when suitable accessory power is not available from the existing door or gate operator. It provides a convenient power source for receiver retrofits without requiring a separately mounted hardwired transformer.

Features

  • Plugs into a standard 110–120VAC electrical receptacle

  • Provides approximately 24VAC low-voltage output

  • Rated for approximately 0.1 amp output

  • Designed for compatible LiftMaster universal radio receivers

  • Useful when an older operator has only activation terminals and no usable accessory-power output

  • Compact plug-in configuration simplifies receiver retrofits

Compatibility

The 85LM is commonly used with compatible LiftMaster universal receivers, including the LiftMaster 850LM and 860LM, when the connected operator cannot supply the receiver’s required low-voltage power.

This transformer is not a universal power source for every LiftMaster operator or accessory. Verify the receiver’s voltage, current requirement and wiring instructions before installation. Do not connect it to an accessory that requires DC voltage or greater current.

How It Works

The transformer converts standard building voltage from the wall receptacle into the low-voltage AC power required by the compatible receiver. The receiver’s relay contacts are then wired separately to the operator’s activation circuit.

Package Contents

  • One LiftMaster 85LM plug-in transformer

Receiver, remote controls and field wiring are not included unless specifically stated.

Installation & Safety

Confirm the receiver’s electrical specifications before connection. Use an appropriately located receptacle and route low-voltage wiring away from moving door components, sharp edges and line-voltage conductors. Disconnect operator power while completing control wiring and test all safety systems before returning the door or gate to service.
