APPLICATION & COMPATIBILITY
For compatible sectional garage doors with extension springs mounted alongside the horizontal tracks. Match the replacement to the door’s actual weight, spring length, stretch requirement, attachment style, and cable-and-pulley arrangement.
In a standard two-spring residential setup, a matched pair of 190 lb extension springs is selected for a 190 lb door—not a 380 lb door. The rating does not mean that one spring should support the entire door by itself.
The 25/42 designation identifies a nominal 25-inch relaxed spring length with 42 inches of stretch. It does not mean the fully stretched spring measures 42 inches.
This spring is not a direct replacement for a torsion spring or a 27/48 extension spring used on an 8-foot-high door. Do not select a replacement by color alone.
REPLACEMENT NOTES
Replacing both extension springs together helps maintain even lifting force and avoids pairing a new spring with a worn spring. Have the pulleys, lift cables, safety cables, clips, and mounting hardware inspected during replacement.
SAFETY WARNING
Garage door springs and associated hardware are under high tension. Improper installation, adjustment, or removal can cause serious injury or death. Installation and service should be performed by a trained garage door technician.
Properly installed containment safety cables must run through both extension springs. Attachment clips do not replace safety cables. Never operate a door with a broken spring, frayed cable, damaged hardware, or uncontrolled movement.
