Control a compatible LiftMaster garage door opener without running wall-control wiring using the LiftMaster L956W wireless control panel. This battery-powered wall station is designed exclusively for LiftMaster Security+ 3.0 garage door openers equipped with a white learn button.

The control panel features a large push bar for opening and closing the garage door, a separate button for controlling the opener lights, and a built-in learn button for programming compatible remotes, wireless keypads, myQ accessories, and Wi-Fi garage door openers.

How It Works

The L956W communicates wirelessly with a compatible LiftMaster Security+ 3.0 garage door opener. Pressing the large push bar sends a signal to open, close, or stop the door, while the smaller light button controls the opener’s built-in lighting.

Because the panel is battery-powered, no low-voltage control wire is required. This makes it useful for finished garages, remodeling projects, detached mounting locations, and installations where running new wire would be difficult.

Compatibility

Compatible only with LiftMaster Security+ 3.0 garage door openers using BLE LR 2.4 GHz E Code technology and a white learn button.

This control panel is not universal and is generally not compatible with older LiftMaster openers using green, red, orange, purple, or yellow learn buttons. Verify the opener model and learn-button color before ordering.

Installation Requirements

Confirm that the garage door opener uses LiftMaster Security+ 3.0 technology and has a white learn button before installation.

Mount the control panel in a location where the garage door is visible, away from moving door components, and out of the reach of children. Follow the included programming instructions to pair the panel with the opener.

Battery Replacement

Replace the battery when the control-panel LED no longer flashes after the push bar is pressed or when wireless operation becomes unreliable.

Use only one 3-volt CR2032 coin-cell battery. Install the replacement battery with the positive side facing upward and dispose of the old battery properly.

Installation & Safety

Install the wall control where the user has a clear view of the garage door. Keep the control panel and all garage door opener controls away from children.

Do not use this control panel as a universal dry-contact switch or connect it to line voltage. It is designed only for compatible LiftMaster residential garage door openers.
