#4 Garage Door Quiet Hinge – 14 Gauge for Sectional Overhead Doors, Sold Each
This #4 quiet hinge connects adjacent garage door sections and supports the roller at the door’s side edge. Its quiet-hinge design accommodates a silencer sleeve to help reduce hinge noise while allowing the sections to pivot during opening and closing.
Use it to replace a worn or damaged matching quiet hinge, or for a compatible noise-reduction upgrade on a door that permits 14-gauge hardware.
PRODUCT DETAILS
• Hinge number: #4
• Material thickness: 14 gauge
• Style: Quiet end hinge with roller carrier
• Application: Compatible sectional overhead garage doors
• Quantity: One hinge, sold individually
POSITION AND FUNCTION
On doors using a conventional graduated hinge arrangement, #4 end hinges typically connect the fourth and fifth sections, counting from the bottom.
The #4 identifies the roller-offset configuration; 14 gauge identifies material thickness. Always follow the door manufacturer’s hardware layout and match the required hinge position.
QUIET-HINGE DESIGN
Quiet hinges provide additional space for a compatible silencer sleeve that helps reduce operating noise. Proper sleeve fit, secure mounting, and rollers in good condition contribute to quieter door movement.
A quiet hinge will not correct noise caused by track misalignment, damaged rollers, loose hardware, or an unbalanced door.
COMPATIBILITY
Before ordering, compare:
• Hinge number and installation position
• Mounting-hole spacing and overall dimensions
• Roller-carrier offset
• Roller-stem diameter and sleeve fit
• Required hardware gauge
• Silencer sleeve and retaining-hardware requirements
When converting from a standard hinge, verify the complete quiet-hinge assembly requirements. Existing sleeves or retaining hardware may not transfer.
14-gauge material is thicker than 16- or 18-gauge material and thinner than 11-gauge material. Do not replace a required 11-gauge hinge with this version unless the door manufacturer approves the substitution.
INSTALLATION NOTES
Inspect the door reinforcement, mounting holes, roller, and sleeve before replacement. Repair damaged attachment points and use the fasteners specified for the door.
After installation, confirm that the hinge pivots freely and the roller travels through the track without binding.
SAFETY
Disconnect opener power and secure the door against movement before servicing. Keep fingers clear of hinge pivots and section joints.
Do not loosen springs, lift cables, cable drums, or cable-connected bottom brackets during hinge replacement. Have a qualified garage door technician service doors that are off track, unbalanced, or structurally damaged.
