The Guardian 7280VBBU PRO Series Garage Door Opener combines an 820N, 3/4 HPe-equivalent DC motor with smooth operation, battery backup and optional smartphone control. Designed for residential sectional garage doors, this operator can be paired with a compatible Guardian chain-drive or belt-drive rail.

The included battery-backup system allows limited garage-door operation during a power outage and makes the opener compliant with California SB 969 when properly installed.

Select the rail according to the garage-door height, drive type and installation requirements. Standard Guardian rail configurations are available for several door heights. Taller or specialized applications may require additional compatible components.

Technical Specifications

Battery-Backup System

The included Guardian battery-backup kit supplies temporary operating power during a household electrical outage.

Battery performance may provide approximately 20 operating cycles after a 12-hour standby period when tested with a new, fully charged battery at room temperature on a properly balanced 8-foot-wide by 7-foot-high sectional door. Actual performance varies with door weight, balance, temperature, battery age and operating conditions.

ClearCom Radio Controls

The included three-button remotes can operate up to three compatible Guardian garage-door openers. The receiver supports more than four million transmitter codes and can store up to 20 remote-control devices.

Rail Compatibility

This operator must be paired with a compatible Guardian rail and drive assembly. Available configurations may include:

• Guardian chain-drive rail

• Rails for common 7-foot, 8-foot and 10-foot residential doors

• Specialized compatible rails for taller applications

Do not select the rail based solely on the operator’s maximum door-height rating. Confirm the door height, available headroom, rail length, drive type and required mounting configuration before ordering.

Installation Requirements

Installation requires:

• Compatible Guardian rail and drive assembly

• Properly balanced residential sectional garage door

• Secure ceiling supports

• Reinforced operator attachment point on the garage door

• Grounded 120V electrical receptacle

• Correctly installed and aligned photo-eye sensors

• Properly connected wall console

• Programmed travel limits and force settings

• Connected and fully charged backup battery

• Adequate Wi-Fi signal for optional smart features

Professional installation is recommended.

The garage door must move smoothly and remain properly balanced before the operator is connected. This opener must not be used to compensate for broken springs, damaged cables, binding rollers, bent tracks or an improperly balanced door.

Safety Notice

Garage-door springs, cables, drums and bottom fixtures are under extreme tension and can cause serious injury or death. Spring adjustment and major door repairs should be performed only by a qualified garage-door technician.

After installation, test the photo-eye system, automatic safety reversal, travel limits, force settings, emergency release and battery-backup operation according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
