The Guardian 7160VBBU PRO Series Garage Door Opener combines a smooth 12V DC motor, 720N pulling force, battery-backup operation, motion-activated lighting, and optional smartphone control. It is designed for residential sectional garage doors using a compatible Guardian chain-drive or belt-drive rail.

This package includes the Guardian battery-backup kit required for compliance with California SB 969 and Health and Safety Code §19892. During a power outage, the battery allows the opener to continue operating without household AC power.

Specifications

Battery performance is based on a new, fully charged battery at room temperature with a properly balanced 8 ft. × 7 ft. sectional garage door. Actual performance varies with door weight, balance, temperature, battery age, and operating conditions.

Battery-Backup System

The included battery-backup kit provides continued garage-door operation during an electrical outage.

Battery features include:

• 12V non-spillable lead-acid battery

• Approximately 24-hour full charging time

The opener may operate more slowly while running on battery power. The courtesy light does not operate when the opener is powered only by the backup battery.

Rail Required

A compatible Guardian chain-drive or belt-drive rail is required and sold separately. Choose the rail according to the garage-door height and preferred drive type:

• 7 ft. door rail

• 8 ft. door rail

• 10 ft. door rail

The opener cannot move the garage door without a compatible rail assembly.

The 7160VBBU includes a built-in Beam Smart Port. Adding the optional Guardian V3 Beam Smart Controller enables compatible app-based features including:

Installation and Safety

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Confirm that the garage door is properly balanced and that all springs, cables, rollers, tracks, hinges, drums, and brackets are in safe operating condition before installing the opener.

The photo-eye safety sensors must be properly installed, aligned, and tested. The opener will not close the garage door normally if the photo-eye system is missing or incorrectly aligned. Never allow children to operate or play with the opener, remote controls, wall console, battery, or wireless keypad.
