Miller Edge SM-102 Signature Module – 10K / T2 Safety Edge to Monitored Pulsed Output
The Miller Edge SM-102 Signature Module connects a compatible 10K-ohm resistive safety edge or photo eye to an operator that requires a monitored pulsed signal. It converts the safety device’s output into the signal format the operator can recognize while preserving the required monitored connection.
Use the SM-102 when an approved 10K safety device cannot connect directly to the operator’s pulsed safety input. Built-in LEDs help technicians identify power, obstruction, and fault conditions during installation and troubleshooting.

COMPATIBILITY
Compatible safety devices include Miller Edge 10K resistive sensing edges with the T2 termination and compatible 10K-output photo eyes. T2 denotes an embedded 10K-ohm resistor and is identified by a blue band on the sensing-edge outlet wire.
Documented applications include:
• LiftMaster Logic 5.0 operators with Miller Edge TG-R-K10 TruGuard or OG-T-K10 OptiGuard photo eyes, using the manufacturer’s specified SM-102 wiring arrangement.
• Compatible Raynor operators with Miller Edge ME, MT, MU, or CPT series two-wire monitored sensing edges configured with T2 termination.
These examples do not establish compatibility with every operator from those brands. Verify the exact operator model, control board, safety-device configuration, and manufacturer-approved wiring before ordering.
WHEN IS THIS MODULE NEEDED?
The SM-102 is used when the safety device provides a 10K resistive signal but the operator requires a compatible pulsed signal.
An operator that directly accepts the approved device’s 10K output may not require this converter. Follow the operator’s instructions rather than adding a module automatically.
SM-102 VS. SM-101
• SM-102: Converts a 10K resistive signal, including compatible T2 sensing edges.
• SM-101: Converts a diode-capacitor signal, including compatible T3 sensing edges.
The two versions accept different input types and are not interchangeable. The SM-102 is not a universal adapter for 8.2K edges, pneumatic switches, or ordinary non-monitored contacts.
PACKAGE CONTENTS
• One SM-102 Signature Module
• One standard 2" × 4" junction box
• Two clamp-on wire fittings
• Four wire nuts
Sensing edge, photo eye, coil cord, and operator are sold separately.
INSTALLATION & DIAGNOSTICS
Installation requires suitable 18–22 AWG wiring or coil cord. Place the module inside the operator or the supplied junction box as directed by the manufacturer.
LED indications:
• Green on: Power
• Red on: Obstruction
• Red blinking: Fault
The module’s NEMA 4 rating does not establish a NEMA 4 rating for the supplied metal junction box.
SAFETY WARNINGS
Installation must be performed by qualified personnel. Disconnect all operator power, including battery backup where fitted, before wiring.
Do not bypass monitoring, substitute a fixed resistor for a safety device, or use this module to defeat an operator fault. A signal converter does not make an unapproved device/operator combination compliant.
After installation, complete any required device-learning procedure and test both obstruction detection and fault response according to the manufacturers’ instructions before returning the door or gate to service.
