The Canimex SBB-3 Sure Stop Bottom Bracket System is a heavy-duty garage door safety device designed for sectional doors using 3-inch track. The system helps reduce the risk of an uncontrolled door fall if a lift cable breaks or becomes disengaged.

Manufactured by Canimex, Torque Force division, the SBB-3 combines the function of a commercial bottom bracket with a mechanical stopping mechanism. If proper cable tension is suddenly lost, the safety mechanism is designed to engage the vertical track and help stop the door from falling.

The SBB-3 is supplied as a left- and right-hand pair.

How the Sure Stop System Works

During normal garage door operation, the lift cable remains under tension and the SBB-3 functions as the lower cable and roller attachment point.

If a lift cable breaks or becomes disengaged, cable tension is lost and the stopping mechanism activates. The safety blade is designed to engage the vertical track and reduce the risk of the door falling freely.

Important Safety-System Note

The SBB-3 is a mechanical cable-failure safety device, not simply a standard bottom bracket.

Once a stopping bottom bracket has activated because of a cable failure or other system problem, the garage door should not be returned to normal operation until it has been inspected and repaired by a qualified overhead-door technician.

Activated or damaged safety components should be evaluated according to the manufacturer's service procedures before the door is placed back into service.

Installation & Safety
