Model 2000-R Sectional Garage Door Chain Hoist for 1-Inch Shaft – Wall-Mount 4:1 Reduction

The Model 2000-R Sectional Garage Door Chain Hoist is a wall-mounted manual operator designed for properly balanced commercial and industrial sectional overhead doors equipped with a 1-inch keyed shaft. Its 4:1 reduction system reduces the pulling effort required to manually open and close the door.

This chain hoist is suitable for warehouses, loading docks, service facilities, storage buildings and other applications where dependable manual door operation is required.

Product Features

  • Model 2000-R manual chain hoist
  • Designed for a 1-inch door shaft
  • Compatible with a 1/4-inch shaft keyway
  • Wall-mounted installation
  • 4:1 reduction ratio
  • Maximum hand-chain pull load of 35 lb
  • Maximum torque of 554 lb-in at the door shaft
  • Can be mounted on either side of the door
  • Designed for properly counterbalanced sectional doors
  • Suitable for commercial and industrial applications

How It Works

The chain hoist mounts securely to the wall beside the sectional door. A roller chain connects the hoist sprocket to the sprocket installed on the garage door shaft.

Pulling the hand chain turns the internal reduction mechanism, which transfers controlled rotational force to the door shaft. The 4:1 reduction helps make a properly balanced sectional door easier to operate manually.

Compatibility

Designed for:

  • Commercial sectional garage doors
  • Industrial sectional overhead doors
  • Warehouse doors
  • Loading dock doors
  • Service bay doors
  • Storage facility doors
  • Properly balanced counterweight or torsion-spring door systems
  • 1-inch keyed door shafts with a 1/4-inch keyway

Before ordering, verify the actual shaft diameter, keyway size, available side room, wall-mounting location, door height, shaft extension and overall door condition.

This model is specifically designed for a 1-inch shaft. It should not be ordered for a 1-1/4-inch shaft application.

Package Contents

The standard assembly typically includes:

  • Model 2000-R wall-mounted chain hoist
  • Door-shaft sprocket
  • #41 roller chain
  • Roller-chain connecting link
  • Hand chain
  • Shaft key
  • Required assembly hardware

Wall-mounting fasteners may not be included. Package contents should be confirmed before installation.

Installation Requirements

Proper installation requires:

  • 1-inch door shaft with a 1/4-inch keyway
  • Minimum extended shaft length of approximately 3 inches
  • Secure structural wall-mounting surface
  • Correct sprocket and roller-chain alignment
  • Proper roller-chain tension
  • Properly balanced and mechanically sound sectional door
  • Adequate side clearance for the hoist and chain assembly

The hoist may be installed on either side of the door when the installation conditions permit.

Important Operating Notes

The garage door must operate smoothly and remain properly balanced before the chain hoist is installed.

A manual chain hoist should not be used to compensate for:

  • Broken or incorrectly tensioned springs
  • Loose or damaged lifting cables
  • Damaged cable drums
  • Bent or obstructed tracks
  • Worn bearings
  • Misaligned shafts
  • Binding door sections
  • Excessively heavy or unbalanced doors

For standard-lift and low-headroom doors, additional components such as pusher springs may be recommended to help prevent lifting cables from leaving the drums.

Installation and Safety

Garage doors contain springs, cables, drums and shafts that operate under extreme tension. Incorrect installation can cause serious injury, death or property damage.

  • Installation should be performed by a trained garage-door technician.
  • Never use the chain hoist to wind or adjust garage-door springs.
  • Secure the hoist to a structurally sound mounting surface.
  • Confirm that the door is properly balanced before operation.
  • Align the door and hoist sprockets before tightening the hardware.
  • Keep the roller chain properly tensioned.
  • Keep the hand chain secured in a chain keeper when the door is open.
  • Inspect all chains, sprockets, keys and mounting hardware regularly.
  • Stop using the hoist immediately if the door binds, drifts or operates unevenly.
