Linear Photocell Kit – Safety Beam Sender & Receiver Set
The Linear Photocell Kit is a replacement safety-beam system designed for compatible Linear residential garage door openers equipped with photo-eye safety sensors.
The kit includes both the sending and receiving photocells along with the required low-voltage wire and connectors, providing the main components needed to replace damaged, failed, or unreliable safety sensors.
Garage door photocells create an invisible infrared beam across the bottom of the garage door opening. If a person, vehicle, pet, or other object interrupts the beam while the door is closing, the garage door opener is designed to stop and reverse the door.
This replacement kit is intended specifically for compatible Linear garage door opener systems and replaces the older Linear HAE00002 safety beam set.

• Replacement for older Linear HAE00002 safety sensors
• Designed for compatible Linear garage door openers equipped with safety beams
• Suitable for repair or replacement of damaged or malfunctioning photo eyes
• Restores proper safety-beam operation when correctly installed and aligned
• Designed for residential garage door opener applications
How It Works
The Linear safety beam system uses two photocells mounted on opposite sides of the garage door opening near floor level.
One photocell sends an infrared beam across the garage doorway while the second photocell receives that beam.
When the beam is clear and the sensors are properly aligned, the garage door opener can close normally.
If an object interrupts the beam while the garage door is closing, the opener detects the obstruction and is designed to stop and reverse the door.
If the sensors are:
• Misaligned
• Disconnected
• Damaged
• Improperly wired
• Blocked by an object
• Contaminated with dirt or debris
the garage door opener may refuse to close normally or may require the wall control button to be held continuously to close the door.
Compatibility
This photocell kit is designed for compatible Linear garage door openers that use safety beams.
Known compatible Linear models include:
• Linear LDO33
• Linear LDO50
• Linear LSO50
• Linear LCO75
• Linear LDCO800
• Linear LDCO801
• Linear LDCO850
• Linear LDCO852
It is also compatible with various other Linear garage door opener models that were originally manufactured with Linear safety beam systems.
IMPORTANT:
This kit is NOT a universal safety sensor set.
It is intended for compatible Linear garage door openers.
Do not use this kit with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Guardian, Marantec, or other garage door opener brands unless the manufacturer specifically confirms compatibility.
Before ordering, verify:
• Garage door opener brand is Linear
• Opener originally uses safety-beam photocells
• Existing safety sensor configuration
• Garage door opener model number
• Wiring configuration
• Replacement part requirements
Replacement Information
This Linear photocell kit replaces the older Linear HAE00002 safety beam set.
If your garage door opener currently uses the older HAE00002 sensors, this kit is the updated replacement for compatible applications.
Do not rely only on sensor appearance when identifying the correct replacement.
Always verify the garage door opener model and original sensor system before ordering.
Common Symptoms of Failing Safety Sensors
A damaged or malfunctioning photocell system may cause symptoms such as:
• Garage door opens normally but will not close
• Door begins closing and immediately reverses
• Opener requires the wall button to be held continuously to close
• Safety sensor indicator lights are off or unstable
• Garage door reverses even when no obvious obstruction is present
• Sensor operation changes when the wire is moved
• Door operates intermittently because of damaged wiring or poor sensor alignment
These symptoms do not automatically mean the photocells are defective.
Similar problems can also be caused by:
• Misaligned sensors
• Broken or shorted wiring
• Loose wire connections
• Dirt or debris on the sensor lenses
• Direct sunlight interference
• Damaged opener control board
• Incorrect sensor mounting
Inspect and diagnose the system before replacing parts.

Installation Requirements
Safety sensors should be mounted on opposite sides of the garage door opening near floor level according to the Linear garage door opener installation instructions.
Installation generally requires:
• Compatible Linear garage door opener
• Correct sensor mounting location
• Proper low-voltage wiring
• Secure electrical connections
• Accurate alignment between sender and receiver
• Clear line of sight across the garage door opening
Before installation:
• Disconnect electrical power to the garage door opener
• Inspect existing wiring for cuts or damage
• Inspect mounting brackets for damage or movement
• Verify the sender and receiver locations
• Clean the sensor mounting area
• Confirm that the beam path is free from permanent obstructions
After installation, restore power and align the sensors according to the opener manufacturer's instructions.
The indicator lights should show proper alignment before normal garage door operation is restored.
Installation & Safety
Garage door photocells are critical entrapment-protection devices and must never be bypassed, permanently shorted, removed, or intentionally disabled.
Disconnect power to the garage door opener before servicing sensor wiring.
Install the photocells where specified by the garage door opener manufacturer.
Keep the sensors and wiring away from:
• Garage door tracks
• Rollers
• Hinges
• Springs
• Counterbalance cables
• Drums
• Chains
• Sprockets
• Moving opener components
• Sharp edges and pinch points
After installation:
• Confirm both sensors are securely mounted
• Verify proper sensor alignment
• Confirm indicator lights show normal operation
• Cycle the garage door several times
• Place an object in the safety beam while the door is closing
• Verify that the garage door stops and reverses
• Test the automatic mechanical reversal system separately according to the opener manufacturer's instructions
Never operate a garage door opener if the safety sensors are damaged, disconnected, misaligned, or not functioning correctly.
Children should never be allowed to play with garage door controls or near a moving garage door.
