How It Works

The motor shaft turns the worm gear, which engages the larger helical drive gear inside the garage door opener. The drive gear transfers motor power to the sprocket or belt-drive assembly, allowing the trolley to move along the rail and operate the garage door.

Over time, worn bushings, insufficient lubrication, excessive door resistance, or normal use can damage the plastic drive gear. A stripped gear commonly causes the motor to run without moving the chain, belt, trolley, or garage door.

Installation Requirements
