Installation Notes

Install the LC36M according to the LiftMaster installation manual and the compatible operator’s wiring diagram. The transmitter and receiver must face each other across the entrapment zone and must be mounted securely so the infrared beams remain properly aligned during door operation.

When installed as a primary entrapment protection device, the lowest optical sensor must be installed no more than 6" above the floor. If installed as a secondary monitored entrapment protection device, it must be installed above the primary monitored entrapment device according to LiftMaster instructions.

After installation, test the door through multiple open and close cycles. Confirm that the operator recognizes the monitored light curtain, stops and reverses when the beams are interrupted during closing, and does not operate unsafely if the device is misaligned, obstructed, disconnected, or wired incorrectly.
