What Is a Dummy T-Handle?

A dummy T-handle provides a convenient exterior handhold for manually opening or closing a garage door, but it does not contain a keyed locking mechanism.

It is commonly used on doors that:

• Do not require an exterior keyed lock

• Use a separate slide lock or interior locking system

• Are equipped with an automatic garage door opener

Installation Notes

Before installation, compare the existing mounting-hole spacing and door thickness with the replacement handle. Installation may require access to both sides of the garage door section.

Tighten mounting hardware securely without overtightening or deforming the door skin or internal reinforcement.

Important

This is a dummy handle and does not lock the garage door. It should not be purchased as a replacement for a keyed locking T-handle unless the locking function is no longer required.

If the garage door requires exterior key access or a mechanical locking function, use a compatible keyed lock assembly instead.
