  • Product Description

This commercial garage door disconnect chain hoist provides manual emergency operation for motor-operated sectional overhead doors. It is designed to operate the garage door after the primary jackshaft or commercial door operator has been disconnected.

The wall-mounted hoist uses a 4:1 gear-reduction system to provide controlled manual door movement with reduced pulling effort. A 1-inch-bore sprocket connects the hoist to the garage door drive system through #41 roller chain.

    Features

    • Auxiliary manual hoist for motor-operated sectional garage doors
    • Operates when the primary electric operator is disconnected
    • Wall-mounted installation
    • 4:1 gear-reduction ratio
    • 1-inch-bore drive sprocket
    • Uses #41 roller chain
    • Includes galvanized hand chain for manual operation
    • Maximum permitted pull on the hand chain: 35 lb
    • Includes a chain keeper
    • Limit switch helps prevent simultaneous manual and powered operation
    • Suitable for commercial, industrial and warehouse overhead doors

    How It Works

During normal operation, the garage door is moved by its electric commercial operator. When power is unavailable or manual operation is required, the primary operator is disconnected and the auxiliary chain hoist is engaged.

Pulling the hand chain rotates the hoist mechanism. The 4:1 reduction transfers movement through the included drive sprocket and roller chain to the garage door shaft or operator drive assembly, allowing the door to be opened or closed manually.

The included limit switch may be connected to interrupt electrical operator operation while the manual hoist is engaged.

    Package Contents

    • Wall-mounted disconnect chain hoist
    • 41B36 sprocket with 1-inch bore
    • Approximately 4 ft of #41 roller chain
    • 26 ft of galvanized hand chain
    • Hand-chain keeper
    • Limit switch
    • Two 5/16"-18 set screws

    Compatibility & Fitment

Designed as an auxiliary manual hoist for compatible motor-operated sectional overhead garage doors.

    Before ordering, verify:

    • Commercial operator and door configuration
    • 1-inch drive-shaft or sprocket-bore requirement
    • #41 roller-chain compatibility
    • Available wall-mounting space
    • Distance between the hoist and drive sprocket
    • Required hand-chain length
    • Electrical compatibility of the included limit switch
    • Garage door balance and spring condition

This product is not a replacement for a properly functioning torsion spring system. The garage door must remain correctly balanced before manual or powered operation.

    Important Matching Notes

The 1-inch measurement refers to the bore of the included drive sprocket.

This disconnect chain hoist is designed for use as an auxiliary manual operating system on a powered garage door. It should not be confused with a direct shaft-mounted chain hoist intended to serve as the door’s primary operating method.

The included roller-chain length may need to be shortened or replaced depending on the mounting position and operator configuration.

    Installation Requirements

Installation requires secure wall mounting and correct alignment between the hoist sprocket and the garage door drive sprocket.

The roller chain must be properly sized, aligned and tensioned. The hand-chain keeper should be mounted at a convenient operating height to prevent the chain from interfering with the doorway or surrounding equipment.

The limit switch must be correctly connected so the electric operator cannot run while the manual hoist is engaged.

    Installation & Safety

Disconnect electrical power and secure the garage door before installing or servicing the chain hoist.

Never operate the electric operator while the manual hoist is engaged. Improper installation may damage the hoist, operator, shaft, chain or garage door components.

Do not exceed the maximum 35 lb pull allowed on the hand chain. Excessive operating force may indicate an unbalanced door, damaged spring system, binding tracks or another mechanical problem.

Installation should be performed by a qualified commercial garage door technician.
