This #2 quiet hinge connects adjacent sectional garage door panels and supports the roller at the door’s side edge. Its heavy-duty 11-gauge construction suits door assemblies requiring thicker hinge hardware, while the quiet-hinge design accommodates a silencer sleeve to help reduce operating noise.

Use it to replace a worn or damaged matching quiet hinge, or for a compatible noise-reduction upgrade after checking the door’s hardware requirements.

PRODUCT DETAILS

• Hinge number: #2
• Material thickness: 11 gauge
• Style: Quiet end hinge with roller carrier
• Application: Compatible sectional overhead garage doors
• Quantity: One hinge, sold individually

POSITION AND FUNCTION

On many conventional sectional doors, #2 end hinges connect the second and third sections, counting from the bottom. They allow the sections to pivot while positioning the rollers at the offset required by the track arrangement.

Always follow the door manufacturer’s hinge layout. The #2 identifies the hinge configuration; 11 gauge identifies material thickness.

QUIET-HINGE DESIGN

Quiet hinges provide additional space for a compatible silencer sleeve that helps reduce hinge noise. Correct sleeve fit, secure mounting, and rollers in good condition contribute to quieter operation.

A quiet hinge will not correct noise caused by damaged rollers, loose track hardware, or an unbalanced door.

COMPATIBILITY

Before ordering, match:

• Hinge number and installation position
• Mounting-hole spacing and overall dimensions
• Roller-carrier offset
• Roller-stem diameter and sleeve fit
• Door manufacturer’s required hardware gauge

When converting from a standard hinge, verify the complete quiet-hinge assembly requirements, including the sleeve and retaining hardware.

11-gauge material is thicker than 14-, 16-, or 18-gauge material. A heavier hinge still needs to match the door’s mounting geometry and does not increase the door’s rated capacity.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Inspect the mounting holes, door reinforcement, roller, and sleeve before replacement. Repair damaged attachment points and use the fasteners specified by the door manufacturer.

After installation, verify free hinge movement, correct roller alignment, and smooth door travel without binding.

SAFETY

Disconnect opener power and secure the door against movement before servicing. Keep hands clear of hinge pivots and section joints.

Do not loosen springs, lift cables, cable drums, or cable-connected bottom brackets during hinge replacement. Have a qualified garage door technician service doors that are off track, unbalanced, or structurally damaged.
