Non-Adjustable Design

This is a rigid, non-adjustable coupler. It joins two shaft sections in a fixed position and does not provide the independent spring-tension adjustment available with some adjustable couplers.

Use an adjustable shaft coupler when the installation requires independent adjustment or indexing of the connected shaft sections.

Installation

Both shaft sections must be properly aligned and sufficiently inserted into the coupler before the bolts are tightened. Install the appropriate shaft key when required by the torsion-system design.

Tighten all fasteners evenly. Do not exceed the specified maximum tightening torque of 20 lb-ft. Misaligned shafts or uneven tightening can cause binding, vibration and premature wear of the bearings or other counterbalance components.

Shaft keys and additional installation hardware are not included unless specifically stated elsewhere in the listing.

Safety Notice

Garage-door torsion springs, cables, drums and shafts can remain under extreme tension. Spring tension must be safely released before disconnecting, cutting or repositioning a torsion shaft.

Installation and adjustment should be performed by a qualified garage-door technician using the correct tools and procedures.
