1-1/4" Garage Door Shaft Collar with Set Screw
The 1-1/4" Garage Door Shaft Collar with Set Screw is a heavy-duty mechanical collar designed for use on compatible 1-1/4" garage door torsion shafts and other commercial overhead door shaft assemblies.
This collar slides over a 1-1/4" round shaft and is secured in position using the included set screw. Once tightened, the set screw locks the collar against the shaft to help prevent unwanted lateral movement of compatible shaft-mounted components.
This type of shaft collar is commonly used in commercial and industrial garage door systems where a secure mechanical stop, spacer, or positioning collar is required on a 1-1/4" torsion shaft.
This product is supplied by Service Spring Corporation and is made in the USA.

How It Works
The shaft collar slides onto a compatible 1-1/4" round shaft before the shaft assembly is fully positioned.
Once the collar is placed at the required location, the set screw is tightened against the shaft.
The set screw creates a mechanical grip between the collar and the shaft, helping keep the collar from sliding during normal operation.
Depending on the door design, shaft collars may be used to:
• Position shaft-mounted components
• Create a mechanical stop
• Control lateral shaft movement
• Maintain spacing between components
• Retain components at a designated point on the shaft
The exact function depends on the garage door's shaft and counterbalance configuration.
Applications
Typical applications include:
• Commercial sectional garage doors
• Industrial overhead doors
• 1-1/4" torsion shaft assemblies
• Solid torsion shafts
• Compatible hollow shaft systems where specified
• Jackshaft and counterbalance assemblies
• Shaft positioning applications
• Retaining or spacing components on a shaft
• Replacement of worn, damaged, or missing shaft collars
Compatibility
This collar is designed for a 1-1/4" round shaft.
It may be used with compatible commercial garage door shaft systems that specify a 1-1/4" collar.
Before ordering, verify:
• Shaft outside diameter is 1-1/4"
• The door system requires a set-screw style collar
• Available shaft space is sufficient
• The collar location does not interfere with bearings, drums, couplers, sprockets, springs, or other hardware
• The shaft condition allows the set screw to properly engage
IMPORTANT:
A 1-1/4" shaft collar is not interchangeable with collars designed for 1", 1-3/8", or other shaft diameters.
Measure the shaft itself before ordering.
Related 1-1/4" Shaft Components
Depending on the installation, this collar may be used alongside other compatible 1-1/4" garage door shaft components such as:
• 1-1/4" solid shaft
• 1-1/4" split shaft collar
• 1-1/4" non-adjustable shaft coupler
• 1-1/4" adjustable torsion shaft coupler
• Bearings and bearing plates
• Cable drums
• Sprockets
• Chain-hoist components
• Commercial torsion hardware
Each component must be individually verified for the specific garage door system.
Package Contents
• 1 1-1/4" Shaft Collar
• 1 Set Screw
Shaft, bearings, couplers, drums, sprockets, springs, keys, fasteners, and additional garage door hardware are not included unless specifically stated with the product.
Installation Requirements
Before installation:
• Confirm the shaft diameter is exactly 1-1/4"
• Disconnect and secure the garage door operator
• Determine the correct collar location
• Inspect the shaft for damage or excessive wear
• Make sure the collar slides freely onto the shaft
• Position the collar according to the original door configuration or manufacturer specifications
• Tighten the set screw securely
The collar should be seated squarely on the shaft.
Do not position the collar where it can interfere with rotating components or prevent proper movement of the torsion assembly.
Installation & Safety
Garage door torsion systems contain components that may be under extreme spring tension.
Never loosen, remove, or reposition shaft hardware when the torsion system is under uncontrolled tension.
Servicing commercial torsion shafts may expose the installer to:
• High spring tension
• Heavy door weight
• Rotating shafts
• Moving drums and cables
• Pinch points
• Falling components
Installation should be performed by a qualified garage door technician when the collar is part of a loaded torsion or counterbalance assembly.
Before servicing:
• Disconnect electrical power to the operator
• Prevent accidental door movement
• Properly secure the door
• Release or control spring tension using approved procedures when required
• Use correctly sized tools
• Wear appropriate eye and hand protection
After installation:
• Confirm the set screw is fully tightened
• Verify the collar cannot slide along the shaft
• Check clearance around bearings, drums, couplers, and other hardware
• Rotate or cycle the system carefully to verify there is no interference
• Inspect the complete shaft assembly before returning the door to service
Never operate a garage door with loose shaft hardware.
