The LiftMaster 041-0136 Safety Sensor Kit is a genuine replacement photo-eye safety sensor set for compatible LiftMaster and Chamberlain garage door openers.

This kit replaces the discontinued LiftMaster 041A5034 / 41A5034 safety sensor kit and is designed for compatible garage door openers manufactured after 1997.

Garage door safety sensors are a critical part of the opener's entrapment-protection system. The two sensors are mounted near the bottom of the garage door opening and create an invisible beam across the doorway. If the beam is interrupted while the garage door is closing, the opener is designed to stop and reverse the door.

The 041-0136 kit includes both the sending and receiving safety sensors, wiring, wire connectors, and replacement hardware. Sensor mounting brackets are not included with this kit.

How It Works

The LiftMaster 041-0136 safety sensor system uses two photo-eye sensors mounted on opposite sides of the garage door opening near floor level.

One sensor sends an infrared beam across the doorway while the second sensor receives the beam.

When the sensors are properly aligned and the beam is unobstructed, the garage door opener is permitted to close normally.

If a person, vehicle, pet, object, or other obstruction breaks the beam while the garage door is closing, the opener's safety system detects the interruption and commands the garage door to stop and reverse.

If the sensors are disconnected, misaligned, damaged, or improperly wired, most compatible LiftMaster and Chamberlain garage door openers will not close normally from a remote control or wireless keypad.

Important Compatibility Notes

The 041-0136 is intended for compatible garage door openers manufactured after 1997.

It is NOT a replacement for LiftMaster 041A4373A safety sensors used on certain older garage door opener systems.

Do not order safety sensors based only on appearance. Several generations of LiftMaster and Chamberlain safety sensors may look similar but use different circuitry, wiring, brackets, or opener compatibility.

IMPORTANT:

Sensor mounting brackets are NOT included with the LiftMaster 041-0136 kit.

If both safety sensors and mounting brackets are required, LiftMaster recommends the complete 041-0365-000 safety sensor kit.

Installation Requirements

Safety sensors must be installed on opposite sides of the garage door opening near the floor and aligned so the infrared beam travels directly between the two sensors.

Installation generally requires:

• Compatible LiftMaster or Chamberlain garage door opener
• Correct sensor mounting locations
• Proper low-voltage wiring between the sensors and opener
• Proper alignment of the sending and receiving sensors
• Secure mounting hardware
• Testing of the safety-reversal system after installation

Existing sensor brackets may be reused when compatible and in good condition.

If the existing brackets are damaged, missing, or incompatible, additional brackets or the LiftMaster 041-0365-000 complete sensor-and-bracket kit may be required.

Installation & Safety

Garage door safety sensors are required safety devices and must never be bypassed, removed, permanently shorted, or intentionally disabled.

Disconnect electrical power to the garage door opener before replacing wiring or servicing electrical connections.

Install the sensors according to the LiftMaster owner's manual and applicable safety instructions.

After installation:

• Confirm both sensors are securely mounted
• Confirm wiring connections are correct
• Verify the LEDs indicate proper operation
• Align the sensors until the safety beam is stable
• Test the garage door using the wall control
• Test operation using remote controls and wireless keypads
• Place an object in the sensor beam while the door is closing and verify that the door stops and reverses
• Test the opener's mechanical automatic-reversal system separately according to the manufacturer's instructions

Never operate the garage door opener if the safety sensors are disconnected, damaged, improperly aligned, or not functioning correctly.

Children, pets, people, vehicles, and objects should always remain clear of a moving garage door.
